The Most Beautiful Rally in the World

Driving along turquoise waters, through a hilly landscape, past medieval towns and across modern bridges. Experiencing the most beautiful sights of Croatia, while enjoying the rich gastronomy of the different regions. That is, what the contestants of the Nikola Tesla EV Rally Croatia 2023 will encounter on this 10th anniversary of a luxurious rally exclusively for Electric Vehicles. The Most Beautiful Rally in the World.

Exploring Istria in Electric Vehicles

The rally launches May 20th from the harbour front of the medieval town of Rovinj, probably the prettiest of the Istrian seaside villages, before the contestants drive around the hilly hinterland of Istria, experiencing oil and wine tasting, wine sampling and lunch overlooking the vineyards.

On 2nd Race Day the drivers can really test their skills and the potential of their electric cars on a private airport strip in Vrsar before hitting the roads of central Istria. From the artist hilltown of Groznjan to the truffle capital of Buzet, the roads meander through a Tuscan-looking landscape with fortified hilltowns peaking down to the quiet cars in the rally. The evenings are spent in a 5 star hotel and the participants are treated to local delicacies.

Racing along the Dalmatian coastline

It’s time to test the range of the different electric vehicles. Although the rally is called Nikola Tesla EV Rally, named after one of history’s most innovative genius; Nikola Tesla who was born in Smiljan in Croatia, it’s not reserved exclusively for Tesla cars. Everyone with an EV can participate and test their vehicle along “The Green Electric Highway” that provides charging stations along the way at important and interesting locations. After a whole day of the driving, the racing day ends in a 4-star hotel just outside the UNESCO World Heritage city of Split.

The next day continues along the dramatic Dalmatian coastline, across the brand new bridge to Pelješac island and around the island, visiting the stunning sinkholes called Blue Lake and Red Lake before returning to Split in the evening. Back on the mainland, the 5th day of the rally takes the drivers north again, to yet another UNESCO World Heritage: the fortified island town of Trogir, before the race day ends at a 5-star Spa Hotel in Zadar.

10 years of Luxury EV Rally

The Nikola Tesla EV Rally has been all about promoting e-mobility, renewable energy and sustainable travel while showcasing the beauty of Croatia for the last 10 years. The international participants join every year from all over Europe to promote e-mobility while enjoying some of the most beautiful roads in Europe – and at the same time having fun!

The Nikola Tesla EV Rally is supported by The Croatian Tourist Board, FZOEU (Environmental Protection Fund), Šibenik Tourist Board, City of Crikvenica and other government institutions and local municipalities, who all appreciate the great opportunity to brand Croatia as an “e-mobility friendly” destination through this unique e-mobility tour.

Putting driving skills to the test

The Nikola Tesla EV Rally Croatia is not all about racing, it’s also about relaxing and enjoying the luxuriance of Croatia’s culture and nature. Race Day no. 6 is Relax Day, where the drivers (and cars) can fuel up on energy by the beach or visit the nautical paradise of Kornati National Park by boat.

The next day drivers will have to test their cars – and own driving skills – to the limit at Višnjik Sports Centre in Zadar with a “Skill Exam” before returning to Zadar for a visit to the old town. The competitors will be showcasing their cars at the waterfront promenade near the solar panel & light art installation poetically dubbed “Greeting to the Sun”.

At the iconic St. John’s Fortress, that towers above the UNESCO World Heritage town and offers commanding views of the Dalmatian seascape, the official award ceremony is held. The winner of Nikola Tesla EV Rally Croatia 2023 will be awarded and celebrated, but all the participants bring home the most important trophy: memories for a lifetime.
